OTHER ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
Ed has been performing in local bands since the age of 16. He took keyboard lessons for several years and guitar as well. "I've always tried to surround myself with great musicians". Being around great musicians has allowed Ed to focus on what he does best, vocals. "Leave the instruments for the guys with the real talent ". Ed joined Brass Attack as a sub, initially to do some fill in gigs for an ailing former vocalist. You only have to sing in front of a horn section once, then you get "hooked". He was asked to join the band permanently a few months later. A horn section just gives you so much more flexibility in the types of music you can cover". Ed prides himself on authentic interpretations of well known vocalist. "When people listen to covers, they don't want to hear you, they want to hear their favorite songs the way their favorite bands/singers perform them". Ed also played Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar in 2005 and would like to thank his many friends from the Westfield Theater Group. It was an experience of a life time to play that role and work with the many talented and passionate people from the Westfield Theater Group.
Ed would like to thank his family for the support and patience they have had over the years. Also he would like to thank his true and good friends in Brass Attack for the camaraderie and good times. "Brass Attack has played a lot of gigs over the years, sometimes we want to kill each other but we really do love what we do and with the exception of Rob (SMILE), I think it shows on stage". There have been so many musicians who have performed with the band here are Ed's' tributes to some:
- Carl (The Alderman): Hard working, passionate, and steady.
- Pat (The Silver Fox): Gives us the edge, and we are still on it.
- Rob (The Boy): Absolutely the best guitar player I have ever played with.
- Keith (The Judge): All Heart.
- Neal Schermerhorn (Flounder): The most talented guy in the band.
- Mike (Cromagnon A): We really love each other, still.
- Dave (Pinch): Two words (Respect, Respect) This doesn't change.
Some of the other guys:
- Steve Tilly (The Professor): Brought us Class.
- George Garber (A pisser): Brought us Shrimp.
- Joe Baptist: Old School Class from a great family.
- Donny Baptist (Good Guy Donny): "Go fire 50 people Donny".
